LAFAYETTE, La. – ULM outscored the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball team 8-3 in the final 2:08 to force overtime before pulling out a 67-60 victory to snap the Cajuns' three-game win streak Monday at the Cajundome.
The Cajuns struggled from the free-throw line, shooting just 8-of-21 (38.1%) for the game, while ULM capitalized with a 75.0 percentage (18-of-24). However, with four seconds to play in regulation, Kia Wilridge knocked down two huge free throws to send the game into overtime as the Warhawks were unable to get off a shot in the final seconds.
Keke Veal gave the Cajuns a 57-55 lead one minute into the overtime period but ULM (6-10, 2-5 SBC) answered with back-to-back buckets as Sharnice Brooks helped the Warhawks go on top 59-57 with 2:28 to play.
After a layup by Simone Fields to even the contest at 59-all, a three-point play by Christina Gray pulled the momentum to the Warhawks as they held Louisiana (11-5, 3-4 SBC) to just one point the rest of the way while knocking down 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in the final 43 seconds for a 67-60 final.
The Cajuns had four players score in double figures for the second-straight game with Wilridge leading the Cajuns with 14 points, her team-best 13th double-figure scoring performance of the season. Robbie Brown added 12 points, shooting 4-of-8 from long range, while Jaylyn Gordon totaled 11 points with three treys. Simone Fields also reached double digits with 10 points and team-high eight boards. Veal added nine points with a team-high five assists and five steals.
Brooks led the Warhawks with 22 points while Gray recorded a team-high 10 boards and three steals.
Neither team was able to grab a sizeable advantage in the first period with a Gordon three giving the Cajuns their largest lead of the half at 14-10 with 14:35 to play.
After a three by Brown gave Louisiana a 17-15 lead, the Cajuns offense went silent the final 11:38 of the half with just five points and one field goal as ULM took a 29-22 lead into the break.
In the second half, back-to-back steals turned into layups for the Cajuns in the early minutes of the period as Louisiana cut its deficit to 31-30 three minutes into the half.
Brown connected from deep again to help the Cajuns retake the lead at 33-32 before a steal by Veal turned into two more points with a Wilridge layup to make it 35-32 with 15 minutes to play.
Both teams were quiet on the offensive side for the next seven minutes until the Cajuns were awakened thanks to three-pointers by Veal and Brown to hold a 46-43 lead with six minutes to play. Another triple by Brown gave Louisiana a 50-47 advantage before Veal came up with a steal and found Mills for an easy two to make it 52-47 with two minutes remaining.
However, a ULM run to end the half and a strong performance at the free-throw line in overtime propelled the Warhawks to the win.
ULM shot 44.9 percent (22-of-49) from the field for the contest while the Cajuns were 34.9 percent (22-of-63) shooting and just 22.2 percent (2-of-9) in overtime.

While Louisiana was outrebounded 40-39, the Cajuns totaled 19 offensive boards and had a 12-6 edge in second chance points.
Louisiana will wrap up its three-game homestand Thursday when the Cajuns take on Arkansas State at 5 p.m.
