FOR STARTERS
After a 3-0 weekend at the season-opening Adidas Rice Invitational, the Ragin' Cajuns will play in front of their home fans for the first time in 2014 when it hosts the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic beginning Friday at Earl K. Long Gym. The Cajuns will welcome Southern, Southern Miss, Nicholls and Northwestern State and will play matches vs each opponent.
Fans are encouraged to follow @UL_Volleyball on Twitter for in-game updates, and @ULRaginCajuns for all Ragin' Cajun Athletics updates. Live stats will be available for each match of the tournament, while a live video stream will be available for the Ragin' Cajun matches.
NEXT WEEK
Louisiana heads back to Houston next weekend for the Flo Hyman Classic, hosted by the University of Houston. Matches with Sam Houston State and Oral Roberts will precede a meeting with the host Cougars in what will serve as the final tune-up for the Cajuns before Sun Belt Conference play begins on Sept. 17 against South Alabama.
QUICK HITS
• Louisiana is off to a 3-0 start, the ninth start of 3-0 or better in program history and the first since 2009. The program record for most wins to open a season is 13, set by the 1990 squad.
• The Ragin' Cajuns are hosting the second annual Sawyer Camillo Volleyball Classic this weekend. Louisiana went 2-1 with wins over Alcorn State and Nicholls in last year's Classic.
• Senior setter Andrea Hole was named the MVP of the Adidas Rice Invitational over the weekend, averaging 10.62 assists and 2.77 digs per set and picking up a double-double in each of the Cajuns' three wins.
• Kaylee Nemeth and Chanelle Gardner each joined Hole on the all-tournament team in Houston. Nemeth averaged a team-high 3.31 kills per set, including a career-high 19 in UL's first-ever win over Rice. Gardner had double-digit kills in a pair of matches, averaging 2.15 kills and 0.69 blocks per set.
• Senior Caitlyn Auxilien picked up 39 digs over the weekend, giving her 1,318 for her career and movigng her past Annette Carney on the all-time digs list for the Ragin' Cajuns.
