LAFAYETTE, La. – The 29th Annual Louisiana Classics will offer streaming live video for the second straight year with a new format for this year's tournament, head coach Theo Sliman announced on Thursday. The tournament takes place March 10-11 at Oakbourne Country Club. Coverage starts at 9 a.m. on both days.
"We are very excited to give fans, family members and boosters of all the programs a chance to watch college golf live," Sliman said. "This is very a unique thing to our tournament. We are the only college tournament outside of the NCAA Championships to be broadcast live. Not everyone has a chance to come out to the course and see the talent on display at the Louisiana Classics, so this gives them the option to watch the action from anywhere in the world."
Fans will have multiple viewing options this year as they can choose between watching constant action on holes nine and 18 as well as a live broadcast with Dan McDonald and Gerald Broussard providing commentary on all of the action.
A new addition this year will be the feature group on Tuesday. Fans will get a chance to follow leading group from the three top teams heading into the final round as all 18 holes of action will be streamed live.
"I am really anxious to see how the coverage turns out after Tuesday with our new feature group coverage," Sliman added. "This is an exciting new addition to the coverage that I think will give the fans a chance to watch some of the best players at our event. I give a lot of credit to our university and sports information staff for making this happen. It really adds something special to an already outstanding event."
The Louisiana Classics is slated to get underway at 8 a.m. both days with a shotgun start on Monday, while teams will start off of holes one and 10 on Tuesday. Host Louisiana, No. 9 Illinois, Illinois State, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, No. 33 LSU, No. 47 New Mexico State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, Texas State, Tulsa and UTSA make up the 12 team field.
