Cajuns Open Four Straight Weeks Of Action With Memphis Tourney

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to tee off in the first of four straight weeks of tournaments as the Cajuns begin play at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Monday at the par-72, 7,334-yard Colonial Country Club.

The tournament will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday with the second round to follow immediately following the completion of the first. After 36 holes on the opening day, the event will conclude on Tuesday with the final round slated to begin at 8 a.m. with play starting on holes one and 10. The host Tigers are the only squad ranked in the top 50 entering play, coming in at No. 40 in this week's Golfstat ratings. The field of 15 teams will also include fellow Sun Belt Conference members Arkansas State, South Alabama and Western Kentucky, as well as Austin Peay, Belmont, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Georgetown, Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri State, Oakland and Xavier.

Christian Verrougstraete, Haraldur Magnus, Ross Davis, Thomas Strandemo and Fernando Cruz Valle will make the start for the Cajuns.

Louisiana finished second at the event last year with Davis posting his career-best finish in sixth place.

Following the Memphis Intercollegiate, the Ragin' Cajuns head to the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in West Point, Miss. from April 7-8.
