Men’s Tennis Wins Fifth Straight Against UTSA, 4-3

LAFAYETTE, La. – The 66th-ranked men's tennis team picked up its fifth-straight win on Friday defeating UTSA 4-3 at Cajun courts.
The Cajuns (15-4) jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning at the No. 2 and 3 positions in doubles. Hunter Johnson and Carl Alberton teamed up to defeat Diogo Casa and Fabian Brand on court three, 8-5, to clinch the point.
On court one, the duo of Rick de Groot and Jake Wynan knocked off the No. 29 ranked team of Joel Rubio and Tomas Stillman, 6-5 (7-5).
Louisiana carried the momentum over to singles play picking up three straight points to clinch the match.
After a win on court three, Carl Alberton recorded a strong 6-1, 6-2 victory against Matt Mussenden at the No. 6 position.
Johnson clinched the match on court five defeating Kolby Kilgo in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to move to 12-0 on the season.
The Roadrunnners (8-12) picked up the final three points of the match at positions 1, 2 and 4.
The Ragin' Cajuns close out the home slate and a four-match homestand on Sunday at 10 a.m. as they host UTPA on senior day.
