Golf Set To Open Spring Season At Oak Hills Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to open the 2014 spring season on Monday at the Oak Hills Invitational hosted by UTSA. The 36-hole tournament is being held at the par-71, 6,765-yard Oak Hills Country Club.

Action gets underway at 8 a.m. on Monday morning with teams playing the first two rounds. The third and final round is set for 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The tournament field includes three teams ranked in the Golf Stat top 50. The host Roadrunners, No. 30 Baylor, East Carolina, Houston Baptist, Kansas State, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, No.13 Oklahoma, Sam Houston State, No. 44 Southeastern Louisiana, UTEP, Texas State, Tulsa and Wichita State make up the 15-team field.

Haraldur Magnus, Christian Verrougstraete, Ross Davis, Thomas Strandemo and Fernando Cruz Valle will tee off for Louisiana. The Cajuns are paired East Carolina, Tulsa and North Texas for the first day.

The Ragin' Cajuns finished in the top 5 in three of their four events in the fall and were led by Cruz Valle who ranks second in the Sun Belt with a 70.91 stroke average.
