FOR STARTERS
The Cajuns will look to go to 3-0 at home for the second straight year and the second time since the 2002-03 season on Wednesday when they host in-state rival Louisiana Tech at the Cajundome.
The Cajuns have won 15 of their last 17 games at home over the past two seasons and four of the last five games in Lafayette against the Bulldog dating back to 1998.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The McNeese State Cowboys closed out the first half on a 17-4 run and never surrendered the lead, knocking off the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 80-70 on Saturday at Burton Coliseum.
Shawn Long picked up his first double-double of the season for the Cajuns (3-4) with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks; but the Cowboys (4-2) got a pair of double-doubles too, from Desharick Guidry (29 points, 16 rebounds) and Kevin Hardy (13 points, 11 rebounds) and out-rebounded UL 47-38 on the night.
The Cajuns got as close as two points with 13 minutes to play in the second half, but the Cowboys answered with an 11-1 run and had another answer each time UL got close the rest of the way in denying the Cajuns their first win in Lake Charles since 2004.
Brian Williams finished with 15 points on 7-for-14 shooting, and Kasey Shepherd had a career-high seven assists to go with three steals and seven points, including one of UL's three triples on the night.
UP NEXT
Louisiana will host Centenary and Milligan College before closing out non-conference play on Dec. 20 at Northwestern State. The Cajuns will get an extended break over the Christmas holiday before returning to open up Sun Belt Conference play on Dec. 30 at UALR.
• Shawn Long's 11 rebounds vs McNeese State moved him into a tie with Tim Thompson with 722 career rebounds, good for 9th all-time at UL. He also moved past Michael Southall for 30th all-time in scoring with 1,198 points.
• UL's 10 blocks vs Jackson State was its most in a game since 12 against FIU on Jan. 14, 2012.
• The Cajuns are holding opponents to a .394 field goal percentage this season. The last time UL held an opponent under .400 for an entire season was 2005-06 when opponents shot just .386.
• UL is 19-6 in home non-conference games under head coach Bob Marlin, including having won each of its last nine after last week's 23-point win over Jackson State.
• Brian Williams has scored in double figures in six of seven games this year, including each of his last five. In three years at Oklahoma State, Williams' longest streak of conseutive double-figure scoring games was three, which he did three times - twice his freshman season.
