FOR STARTERS
With two straight wins under their belt, the Ragin' Cajuns next head west to Lake Charles, La., on Saturday to take on McNeese State for the 90th time in the history of the series. The Cajuns have won by a margin of 23.5 points in their last two games, led by 16.0 points per game from Devonta Walker and 15.5 from Kasey Shepherd.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns returned home after four straight games away from the Cajundome and rolled to a 76-53 win over Jackson State on Wednesday night.
The Cajuns squared their record on the season with a defensive effort that held the Tigers to just 33.6 percent shooting, including a season-high 10 blocked shots – the most by a Cajun team since swatting 12 against FIU in 2012.
Meanwhile, offensively the Cajuns were efficient throughout the night, hitting 47.2 percent from the floor and 24-for-32 at the foul line. Devonta Walker hit nine of his 10 tries from the charity stripe en route to a game-high 19 points to go along with eight rebounds.
Long just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, also blocking four shots in the first half. Additionally, point guard Jay Wright filled up the stat sheet despite scoring just six points by adding six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals without a turnover.
UP NEXT
Louisiana returns home for the first of three consecutive games at the Cajundome when it hosts Louisiana Tech in a return game from a year ago when UL handed the Bulldogs their only home loss of the year, 79-70 in Ruston. UL will then host Centenary and Milligan College before closing out non-conference play at Northwestern State on Dec. 20. Sun Belt Conference play is slated to begin Dec. 30 at UALR.
• UL's 10 blocks was its most in a game since 12 against FIU on Jan. 14, 2012.
• The Cajuns are holding opponents to a .392 field goal percentage this season. The last time UL held an opponent under .400 for an entire season was 2005-06 when opponents shot just .386.Â
• UL is now 19-6 in home non-conference games under head coach Bob Marlin, including having won each of its last nine after Wednesday's 23-point win over Jackson State.
• Brian Williams has scored in double figures in five of six games this year, including each of his last four. In three years at Oklahoma State, Williams' longest streak of conseutive double-figure scoring games was three, which he did three times - twice his freshman season.
