Cajuns look for fourth straight eight-win regular-season

TROY, Ala. - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football team will close out the regular season on Saturday when it travels to face Troy University in a Sun Belt Conference contest at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and the game will be televised on ESPN3.

Louisiana (7-4, 6-1 SBC) will look to close out the regular-season on a positive note after having its six-game winning streak snapped last week in a 35-16 setback to Appalachian State. The Ragin' Cajuns, whose previous loss was at Boise State on Sept. 20, trailed 14-13 at halftime against the Mountaineers and 21-16 with just over six minutes remaining in the game before App State scored twice in the final 5:35 to seal the win.

Terrance Broadway completed 21 of 33 passes for 160 yards for Louisiana and surpassing Jake Delhomme as the school's all-time leader in total offense. The senior increased his three-year career total to 8,966 yards and eclipsing Delhomme's record of 8,876 yards after completing an 11-yard pass to Al Riles in the second quarter.

Alonzo Harris rushed for 60 yards for the Ragin' Cajuns while sophomore Elijah McGuire added 36 yards and a touchdown - his eighth straight game with at least one rushing TD. McGuire upped his season rushing total to 996 yards, four shy of becoming the fourth player in school history to record 1,000 yards in a season. Quarterbacks Brian Mitchell (1989) and Michael Desormeaux (2007), along with running back Tyrell Fenroy (2005-08), are the three players to reach 1,000 yards in a season.

McGuire's TD - a 7-yard run in the second quarter - was his 14th of the season tying him with Marcus Prier (1995) and Harris (2013) for the fourth-best total in a single-season.

Hunter Stover added three field goals (38, 26, 33) for the Ragin' Cajuns to improve to 15-for-18 on the season and 16-for-16 from inside 40 yards in his career. Stover's 15 field goals on the season tied him with former Cajun Rafael Septien (1974) for the fourth-best total in a single-season.

The game against Troy (3-8, 3-4 SBC) will mark the final contest for longtime coach Larry Blakeney, who announced his retirement in October. The legendary coach has won 178 games in his tenure at Troy, third-most among coaches in the state of Alabama, and is 100-22-1 in games played at home. The Trojans have won their last two games with victories over Georgia State (45-21) and Idaho (35-17).
