MOBILE, Ala. – The Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to compete at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, which begins Monday. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par 72, 7,212-yard Crossings Course at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile, Ala.
“We are excited to get back in the saddle and compete,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “This is one solid golf course and certainly a top shelf field giving us and opportunity against some of the top programs in the country.”
Play gets underway at 8 a.m. on Monday with a shotgun start. The teams will then turn around and play the second round following the completion of the first round on Monday. The final round is slated to begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The field includes host No.50 South Alabama, Akron, Arkansas State, No.27 Auburn, No.19 Illinois, Illinois State, No.37 Kentucky, Louisiana-Lafayette, No.14 Louisiana State, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, No.46 Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi, No.17 Vanderbilt and No.23 Wake Forest.
The Cajuns will have a new lineup this week as freshmen Ross Davis and Adam Galliano join seniors Brandt Garon, Yohann Vora and Ethan Savoy. Galliano is the fifth Louisiana player to make his debut this year.
“With two new faces in the lineup, we are going to need the starters from last week to apply the lessons learned,” Sliman noted.
Freshman Christian Verrougstraete, Thomas Strandemo and Jason Noto will also see action this week playing as individuals.
