MOBILE, Ala. – The Ragin' Cajuns golf team finished in 11th place at 41-over par (905) on Tuesday at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate held at the Magnolia Grove Crossing Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.

“It was nice to see the guys come out and play a good round and a half of golf today,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “Obviously 11th isn't where we want to finish as a team. We are coming back focused on the fact that we can certainly do better.  If we can clean up some of our rounds then I think we are going to have a good spring.”

The Cajuns saw their best 18-hole performance come in the second round as Louisiana carded a round of eight-over (296) before closing out the tournament with a round of 12-over (300) in the final 18 holes.

No.27 Auburn was the wire-to-wire champion with a 54-hole score of three-under par (861). The Tigers were the only team to post a score of even par or better.

No.14 LSU (+1, 865), No.19 Illinois (+6, 870), No.46 Mississippi State (+11, 875) and No.23 Wake Forest (+11, 875) round out the top five teams.

Niclas Carlsson of Auburn was the individual medalist with a three-round score of four-under par (212).

Senior Brandt Garon finished just outside of the top 25 in a tie for 27th at six-over par (222), while Yohan Vora placed in a tie for 44th at 10-over (226).

Fellow senior Ethan Savoy carded a 54-hole score of 12-over par (228) to finish in a tie for 50th.

Freshmen Ross Davis and Adam Galliano rounded out the scoring for the Cajuns with Davis in a tie for 54th at 13-over (229) and Gallino in 80th at 29-over (245).

“The last time Ross saw action was Baton Rouge in the fall,” Sliman added.  “For him to come out and improve every round gives us a glimpse of what he can do as a player.”

The Ragin' Cajuns  will take a week off before hosting the 28th Annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club on March 4-5. Follow the golf team on twitter @CajunGolf.
