BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After competing for almost a week at the USTA Birmingham Futures event, twins Hunter and Yates Johnson saw their run come to an end with a second round loss in the doubles main draw on Wednesday the Highland Park Tennis Center.
The pair came up short against the second seeded team of Sekou Bangoura and Evan King in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-0.
"The guys had a good run which they can learn from," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "It's all about who plays the big points the best. I think the twins can learn how to play the big points if they practice that way. That will have them ready next time they have the opportunity.
"The guys had six no-ad games and couldn't pull one out, but it is all a learning experience. As long as they learn and not make the same mistakes again, then it was a successful trip for sure."
Louisiana closes out the fall season this weekend as the team will send a group to the Pensacola Futures event.
