Cougars Sweep Women’s Tennis On The Road, 7-0

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team was swept 7-0 by No.61 College of Charleston in a dual match on Monday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.

“We played a seasoned team that has had a lot of success,” head coach Greg Harkins. “Even though the score doesn't show it, we grew as a team being able to hang in there with an experienced team like the College of Charleston. Hopefully playing matches like this will help to not only serve as a learning experience for next year, but also get us ready for the conference tournament.”

The Cougars (19-5) swept doubles play clinching the point at No.1 doubles as Samantha Maddox and Irene Viana defeated Milou Israel and Erin Wilbert 8-4.

After two quick points at No.6 and No.5 in singles play, the College of Charleston clinched the match at No.1 with Christin Newman's 6-0, 6-3 victory.

“Thanks to coach Anastopoulo for inviting us down here during our spring break,” Harkins said. “This has been a great chance for us to grow as a team.”

The Cajuns (4-14) return to action tomorrow at Noon when they face Coastal Carolina in a dual match in Charleston, S.C.
