THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Ragin' Cajuns golf team will tee off in its last tune up before the Sun Belt Conference tournament on Monday at the All-American Intercollegiate. It is the first time since 2009 that UL has played in the 54-hole event that is hosted by the University of Houston at TPC Woodlands.
“This is going to be a great tournament,” head coach Theo Sliman said. “The field is strong and the course is in immaculate shape. The guys have worked really hard this week regarding their preparation. Now it is time to have belief in our abilities and to execute our game plan.”
Prior to the All-American Intercollegiate's two year hiatus, the tournament ranked as one of the nation's premier collegiate events, featuring some of the country's top student-athletes and teams.
The Cajuns face an impressive 15-team field that includes six programs among the nation's top 50 in the latest Golfstat rankings.
That group includes No. 10 Arkansas, No. 27 Baylor, No. 19 Clemson, Lamar, No. 32 North Texas, Notre Dame, Rice, No. 44 SMU, Southeastern Louisiana, No. 14 Texas A&M, Texas State, Tulsa and UT Arlington.
The first round starts at 8:30 am on Monday with the second round to follow immediately afterwards. The final round of competition is slated for 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Philipp Fendt, Andrew Noto, Chris Weninger, Brandt Garon and Yohann Vora will tee off for the Cajuns at the All-American Intercollegiate.
