Cajuns Challenge No.11 Texas A&M, 5-2

The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team had a good showing at 11^th ranked Texas A&M Saturday afternoon falling 5-2 at the Georgia P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.

“I am happy with the way our team responded today playing well in singles play,” head coach Mark Jeffrey said. “We had a couple guys pick up wins individually as Rick DeGroot defeating a ranked opponent, but there is still plenty of room for improvement for our team. So far this weekend has been good for us, and I look for us to close out this road trip on a high note tomorrow.”

The Aggies (1-0) swept doubles play taking an early 1-0 advantage in the match. DeGroot and Jarred Wynan went deep at No.2 doubles for UL (0-2) falling 8-6 to Jeremy Efferding and Colin Hoover.

In singles play, DeGroot earned his first win of the spring defeating a ranked opponent in Junior Ore 6-4, 6-7 (3), 13-11 at No.1 singles.

Freshman Damian Farinola also earned a win in singles play topping Jackson Withrow 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) at No. 4 singles.

The Cajuns are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. as they are slated to close out their Texas road swing against Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, Texas.
