>>>Louisiana and South Alabama are meeting for the 42nd time in the history of the two basketball programs. The Cajuns are seeking their first win in conference play and looking to snap a five game losing streak.
>>>Krystal Motley compiled another solid week in her senior campaign, averaging 18 points in the two contests. Motley accounted for 53 percent of the Cajun's points against WKU, pouring in 24 points on a career-high four three-pointers (4-of-8). She also had five rebounds and two steals in the game. Motley followed up her performance with another double-figure night scoring 12 points against MTSU.
>>>Michelle Brunker posted career-bests at Middle Tennessee, scoring 14 points and converting on six field goals. Brunker is averaging 7.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in conference play.
>>>Sophomore guard Bianca Davis also added a new personal best against the Blue Raiders. Davis came off the bench to score 10 points on Saturday.
>>>Josie West had five points and a corralled a career-high nine rebounds at Western Kentucky. The junior is averaging 4.7 points and 4.3 rebounds on the year.
>>>Louisiana had a bright spot in the game at Middle Tennessee shooting 22-for-53 (.415) from the field. It marked the first time the Ragin' Cajuns have shot over 40 percent in their last five contests.
>>>UL had two steals against MTSU snapping a string of five games with at least 11 steals. Saturday also marked the first time the Cajuns have not recorded a block in a game this season.
NOTES AND TRENDS
>>>The Cajuns did not record a block for the first time this season against Middle Tennessee. UL has 46 rejections on the year and rank fifth in the Sun Belt in blocked shots.
>>>Louisiana had two steals on Saturday at MTSU, snapping a streak of five games with at least 11 steals. The Ragin' Cajuns are third in the SBC with 9.6 steals per contest.
>>>Freshman Robbie Brown did not have a steal for just the fourth time this season against the Blue Raiders. Brown has been a pesky defender, tallying 27 steals on the year. She is 11th in the conference with 1.8 steals a game.
MOTLEY STEPPING IT UP
>>>Krystal Motley has been a pleasant surprise for the Ragin' Cajuns this year. The senior has stepped up her game and increased her scoring average from last year by more than 10 points a game this season. Motley is averaging 12.7 points a game after averaging 2.5 points a game in the 2010-11 season.
>>>Motley made a career-high four three pointers against Western Kentucky scoring 24 points, including 17 in the second half. She narrowly missed setting a new career-best as she scored 27 points earlier in the year against Southeastern Louisiana on November 29.
>>>She is averaging 15 points in conference play and ranks 13th in the league in scoring. The gurad is also ninth in the SBC in free throw percentage as she is 27-of-36 (.750) from the charity stripe.
SHORTHANDED
>>>The Cajuns lost “6'4 center Kemi Rotibi to an ACL tear December 16, against Bethune-Cookman.
>>>Rotibi was having a career-year in her senior campaign. She was Louisiana's third leading scorer (8.9 ppg) and leading rebounder (7.2 rpg). She also led the squad in field goal percentage (.517) and was second in the conference in blocked shots (2.1 bpg).
>>>Louisiana also lost Mercedes Johnson (personal reasons) for the year. Johnson was the second leading scorer (9.3 ppg) and second leading rebounder (6.1 rpg). Johnson has 1,280 career points and is the Ragin' Cajuns fourth all-time leading scorer.
SERIES HISTORY (South Alabama Leads 31-10)
>>>The first game between the two schools was played back on November 27, 1987. South Alabama was victorious 63-61.
>>>The Lady Jaguars won both games against the Cajuns last season. The first game was played in Mobile and resulted in an 82-66 win. The second victory came in the first round of the conference tournament, 58-53.
>>>The Ragin' Cajuns are seeking to snap a seven game skid against USA. Head coach Errol Rogers will attempt to win his first contest against the Lady Jaguars in his career.
