Cajuns Track & Field Prep for Last Road Meet

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men and women's track & field teams participate in their final road meet of the regular season with a visit to Baton Rouge on Saturday, April 23 for the LSU Alumni Gold meet held at Bernie Moore Stadium.

Several teams from across the region are expected at the one-day event, including in-state foes Louisiana Tech, McNeese State and Northwestern State. Other programs attending the meet include Houston, Minnesota and South Florida.

Field events will kick off the meet at 9 a.m. with the men and women's discus. Running events will start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 3,000-meter Steeplechase.  

The Ragin' Cajuns are visiting LSU for the second time, after participating in the LSU Relays on March 25-26. UL closes out the regular season next Saturday, April 30 by hosting the Cole-Lancon Invitational at the Ragin' Cajuns Track / Soccer Facility.

Louisiana has nine athletes that are currently are qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which will be held in Bloomington, Indiana.

Among the leaders for the Cajuns' includes sophomore O'Daylon Thibeaux, who is 10th regionally with a distance of 51-2 ¼ (15.60m) in the triple jump.

Jasmine Manuel is 11th regionally in the triple jump with a leap of 41-10 ¾ (12.77m) at the Texas Relays on April 9.

The Cajuns have three men in the top-48 for the shot put. Albert Fournette, the reigning Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week, is 18th in the NCAA East with a school-record toss of 57-7 ¾ (17.57m). Jacob Domingue is 22nd (57-3 ½, 17.46m) and Myles Melancon (57-2 ¾) is 23rd in the region.

Senior Jasmine Anderson's run of 13.47 in the 100-meter hurdles is tied for 19th, while her run of 24.02 in the 200-meter dash is 42nd regionally.
