Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Arkansas State in Sun Belt Conference play on Friday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Complex in Jonesboro, Ark.
UL (4-9-1, 0-5-0 Sun Belt) played equal to the Red Wolves the entire match, but could not break into the scoring column. ASU held a slight edge in both shots (11-10) and corners (4-3).
Arkansas State grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the first half on a Stasha Siers goal in the 43rd minute. Siers beat Louisiana keeper Christa Rostohar to the near post off of an ASU corner kick.
The Red Wolves increased their advantage to 2-0 in the 71st minute when Alex Furr sent a free kick into the back of the net.
UL looked to battle back late in the contest firing five shots in the final 10 minutes, but ASU's keeper Megan Stoltzfus kept the Cajuns off of the board posting two saves.
Hayden Gipson led the Cajuns with five shots on the afternoon, while Melissa Minton had two shot on goal.
Louisiana returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Cajuns square off with UALR in Little Rock, Ark.
