Become a member of the Ragin' Jazz
Do you want to become a member of the Ragin' Jazz Dance Team? Each spring, a new dance team is selected and you could be one of their next members. The next Ragin' Jazz dance team will be chosen in April 2014. Dates, times and tryout packet will be available in January 2014.

Practices and Workouts
Ragin' Jazz practice and strengthening and condition sessions are held throughout the summer, fall semester, winter break and spring semester 2-3 times per week on Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday evenings. Strengthening and conditioning sessions are also required and held 3 times per week.
Scholarships, Stipends and Out of State Students
As of now there are no scholarships offered to dancers, however stipends of $500-700 in the fall and $500-700 in the spring are given to spirit group members. In addition, out of state tuition fees are waived for spirit group members, thus your tuition is that of an in state student.
Tryout Requirements:
Dancers will be evaluated in several categories. Fight song, jazz technical evaluation, jazz choreography, hip hop choreography and interview. Listed below are the technical requirments:
- pirouettes (triples & quads)
- fouettes, a la seconde
- chaine turns, pique turns
- grande jetes
- straddle leaps
- switch leaps
- turning disc
- calypso
- fan kicks
- leg pull turns

Bonus skills: (you will be given an opportunity to demonstrate your best 4-6 8 counts)
*any tumbling including front & back walkovers, back handspring, ariel cartwheels, hip hop stalls/tricks
*any balance skills, penche, developpe extensions
Tryout Attire:
- Black sports bra/crop top and black hot pants (lycra dance shorts)
- jazz shoes & tennis shoes
- You may bring a pair of black sweats/athletic pants for the hip hop portion
- no jewelry except single stud earrings
- hair should be neatly styled, no ponytails
- make up should be worn, present as you would on gameday
