Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's track and field teams resumed their indoor season on Friday, competing in Day 1 of the University of Houston Indoor Invitational and Multi Events at Yeoman Fieldhouse on the UH campus.

Angela Roberts and Casey Comeaux made their season debuts in the pentathlon and heptathlon, respectively.

Roberts finished 15th in the heptathlon with 2,768 points with her best finishing being a 10th place spot in the long jump (4.94m/16-2 ½).

Comeaux sits in 15th place after Day 1 of the heptathlon, accumulating 2,298 points through the first four events. The heptathlon concludes Saturday at 10 a.m.

Competition began in the men's and women's 200 and 400 meter dash. In the women's 200 meter dash both Morgan Breaux (26.05) and Kacey Elphage (27.75) finished first in their section. In the women's 400 meter dash, Amanda Roberts claimed her section with a time of 58.39 - the third-fastest time of the 46 runners who competed Friday.

The remaining heats in the 200 meter and 400 meter dash will be run Saturday afternoon. Alexis Malone is slated to run for the Cajuns in Saturday's 200 meter heats.

In the men's weight throw the Cajuns had four representatives with Donnie Broussard, Jacob Fontenot, Tyler Guidry and Garrett Harkless competing. Unfortunately, none of them placed as Guidry failed to record a distance on three throws and Broussard, Fontenot and Harkless fouled out.
