www.ragincajuns.com - Freshman catcher Sarah Draheim's walk-off, RBI-single lifted Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team to a 2-1 win and a series sweep of South Alabama on Sunday afternoon at Lamson Park. The Cajuns had led the entire game with Brittany Cuevas throwing 6.2 shutout innings before surrendering a run to the Jaguars in the bottom of the seventh.

With the win, Cuevas closes out the week with a 3-0 record. In 19.0 innings pitched she struck out 19 batters while allowing just two runs. Against the Jaguars over the weekend, the senior hurler threw 11.2 consectutive shutout innings.

Riding a five-game winning streak, UL now sits at 28-1 overall and 9-3 in the Sun Belt. The Jaguars fall to 18-19 overall with a 5-8 mark in the league.

Gaspard put Cajuns in scoring position in the bottom of the third inning. The senior outfielder singled up the middle but was able to reach third after the ball got away from the Jaguars in centerfield. But the inning ended before she could cross the plate.

Christi Orgeron finally broke the 0-0 stalemate with a solo home run to left field at the start of the bottom of the fourth inning.

But the Jaguars threatened in the top of the fifth. After a hit and a costly throwing error, USA was able to put runners on second and third with no outs. Brittany Cuevas fanned one batter and forced another to pop-out. After walking Brittany Fowler, USA's leading hitter, to load the bases, Cuevas forced another pop-out to squander the Jaguars best scoring opportunity.

After Orgeron's homer, the UL's bats went cold with eight straight Cajuns failing to reach base.

In their last at bat, the Jaguars had the tying run on second with one out. A single put the runners on the corners. A two-out single by Fowler tied the game, 1-1.

In the bottom of the final frame, Lana Bowers started things off with a double after staring down a 0-2 count. A wild pitch moved her over to third before scoring on Draheim's single to secure the win.

UL scattered five hits in the win. Bowers led the squad going 2-for-3 along with the winning run. Drahiem, Orgeron and Vallie Gaspard each had one hit a piece.

Cuevas grabbed her 14th win of the season after allowing five hits. She walked two batters and struck out eight. Seven of her strikeouts were with the batters swinging.

The Cajuns will have little time off as FAU travels to Lafayette, La. for a midweek conference series. Tuesday's double header is set to start at 5:00 p.m. CT at Lamson Park.
