Tennis Teams Head To ITA/USTA Regionals

Players will be competing this weekend for the right to advance to the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, held Nov. 4-7 at the USTA-Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Winners from both the men's and women's main singles and doubles draws will earn a berth.
The men's team will head to the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to compete against 13 other teams from the Southern Region. The teams competing in this year's field include Alabama, UAB, Samford, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Southern Mississippi, Auburn, South Alabama, Troy, Tulane and Jacksonville State.
Matches will start at 8:30 a.m. each day (Friday-Monday) and will be held at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
The women's team will head to Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. for their regional championship. The Birmingham field includes teams from Samford, Alabama, Auburn, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe LSU, Mississippi State, Northwestern State, Ole Miss, South Alabama, Troy, Tulane and UAB.
Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. (CDT) on Friday and Saturday. Sunday's competition will start at 9 a.m., while Monday's championship matches will begin at a time that is yet to be determined.
The USTA/ITA Regional Championships features some of the top men's and women's players competing in each of the ITA's regions across the country over the course of two months. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete in the USTA/ITA Regional Championships held at 85 different college campuses across the country.
