The Cajuns outplayed the Mean Green from the opening whistle and if it weren't for a lucky bounce the Cajuns would have kept
In the second half,
The Cajuns offense looked impressive from the get-go. Senior Callie Oliver almost netted a goal in opening five minutes but her shot clanked off the cross-bar. The shot seemed to give the offense a wake up call as they continued to dominate on the Mean Green's half of the pitch.
The Mean Green however netted the first goal of the game when a cross glanced off a Cajun defender and landed on the foot of Kelsey Perlman, who beat Stephanie Weston to put the Mean Green up 1-0.
UL countered 15 minutes later, when sophomore Chelsea Balestra received a pass from Erika Saffer. Balestra turned and took a shot from about 22 yards away which beat the keeper and snuck inside the left post for her second goal of the year.
The Cajuns had many chances in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net.
The story was different for the Mean Green, who scored twice. The first of the second half goals came from Veronica Ayala, who took a shot from 18 yards out to beat the keeper. The second goal came when a loose ball was corralled by Kelsey Perlman who found Ayala; Ayala beat Weston on the left side to make it 3-1 for her second goal of the half.
The Cajuns had a handful of chances after the Ayala goal but couldn't capitalize and the game ended 3-1.
