LAFAYETTE - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head baseball coach Tony Robichaux and his program will host its annual Alumni Weekend April 11-13 when his squad hosts in-state and Sun Belt Conference rival ULM for a three-game series at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
The three-day Alumni event will feature former Ragin' Cajuns including members of the 1978 baseball team - the first Cajuns team to play its home games at "The Tigue." Some of those players from the 1978 team have not seen their teammates since Jose Alvarez's no-hitter in the season finale at "Thge Tigue."
Nearly 100 former Cajuns will be on hand during the weekend. Friday's festivities will begin with an Alumni Golf Tournament in the morning followed by tailgating at the Cajun Cooking Club prior to the series opener with the Warhawks. On Saturday, all former Cajuns will run onto the field to their old position for the National Anthem and members of the 1978 team will also be introduced prior to the game. A post-game crawfish boil will follow Saturday's game in the Lourdes Park Pavilion. Alumni Weekend will conclude Sunday with tailgating beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Cajun Tails cooking area located across from "The Tigue" ticket booth.
