Cajuns Conclude Border Olympics

HOUSTON, Texas-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's golf team concluded play in the 2008 Border Olympics on Saturday afternoon. The Cajuns shot four-over par as a team on the final day to move up to 11th in the tournament.

The Cajuns saved their best round of the tournament for last. Louisiana improved each round and turned in a four-over par team performance in the final round.

The Ragin' Cajuns were led by senior Michael Smith (Lafayette, La.) and freshman Thomas Petts (North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada).

Smith turned in a two-over par score of 74 in the final round of the tournament. He finished the tournament in a tie for 18th. Smith was the top finisher for the Cajuns in the tournament.

Petts was second on the Cajuns' squad, tying for 24th. Petts turned in the only sub-par round of the tournament for the Cajuns. The rookie carded a final round score of 70 to finish the tournament at six over par.

Thomas Disch (Ville Auray, France) saved his best performance for last. Disch carded a final round score of even par 72 to finish the tournament in a tie for 45th.

Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns was B.C. Thibeaux, III (Lafayette, La.) and Devin Carrey (South Surrey, British Columbia, Canada). Thibeaux carded a second consecutive round of 76 to finish in a tie for 50th, while Carrey finished the tournament in a tie for 64th.
