COLLEGETENNISOLINE.COM- CTO is starting a new series of articles entitled “Spotlight on the Coach.”  In these articles we will be asking college coaches a series of questions to give you a little insight into their world as tennis coaches.

Q.  Why did you get into coaching?
A.  I turned to coaching to help young men and women reach their goals.  I am here for the elite players of this game. I absolutely have a passion for competition and those who share that vision for the ultimate success.

Q.  What is your favorite quote or slogan?
A. “The subconscious cannot tell the difference between imagination and what is real”.

Q.  What is the best part about college tennis?
A.  Definitely dual match play- when the match comes down to one player for each team and both teams are going crazy.

Q.  What is the hard part about college tennis?
A.  20 hour rule per week, and dealing with regular and off season.

Q.  What is a typical day at practice like?
A.   Conditioning and practice (not giving too much away).  I really like to mix practices up to where the guys are always doing something different every 10 minutes.

Q.  What is your most memorable moment of college tennis so far?
A.  Definitely winning a Golden Set at the SEC Indoors in the quarterfinals.
My doubles partner and I were ranked 5th nationally at the time, and this was the first time in my life I was able to accomplished this feat.  We won the golden set versus Vanderbilt University; these guys played #2 Doubles at the time.

Q.  Why should a prospective athlete choose to play for your program?
A.  ULL has a diverse Student Population of over 18,000, and ranked 40th nationally in Business by the Princeton Review.  ULL was also among the nations leaders in best value with an out of state full scholarship priced at only $14,500.  Athletically, the Ragin' Cajuns have a coaching staff second to none, both head men's and women's coaches played in the SEC with All American and All SEC Honors. Both coaches are Hall of Famers with the men's coach enjoying a ranking of top 360 ATP at age 18 and the women's head coach top 180 WTA.

Q.  Other than tennis, what do you also enjoy?
A.  Right now, I enjoy outfitting my new house.
