Cajuns Open Weekend on Sour Note

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team did not get the performance they wanted to open the weekend as they were shutout 2-0 on the road against Western Kentucky.

The Cajuns fell to 4-9-2 on the year and 2-4-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Hilltoppers improved to 11-3-3 overall and 5-0-2 in conference play.

Louisiana struggled offensively failing to score a point in the match. The Cajuns were out-shot 33-to-12 by the defending Sun Belt Champions. Western Kentucky also won the battle on goal as they recorded 11 shots on goal compared to just five by UL.

The Cajuns used a pair of goalies in the game as Stephanie Weston and Amanda Moorefield both saw time between the posts. Moorefield had a career high eight saves on the night.

The Cajuns offense was lead by Courtney Hofland who had three shots, two landing on net. Heather Fuller and Melissa Minton added two shots of their own.

The Cajuns will return to the pitch Sunday to face Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m. Louisiana returns home following the match with the Blue Raiders, for three home games to finish the regular season.
