Cajuns fall to South Alabama at SBC Championships

DENTON, Texas ? Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team fell to No. 1 seed South Alabama 4-0 in semifinal action at the17th Sun Belt Tennis Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles action, USA's R. J. Nagel and Jack Baker captured an 8-2 victory over Jorge Delgado and Janusz Conradi at No. 2. Dusan Tabak and Arlen Domoney fell to Dias Doskarayev and Craig Dunne 8-5 at No. 3. The win at the third position clinched the doubles point for the Jaguars.

Piotrek Banas and Shaun Ellison defeated Robert Hodel and Marek Sramek 8-5 at No. 1.

In singles play, Baker put USA up 2-0 by winning the first singles point 6-1, 6-1 over Tabak at No. 2.

Conradi was defeated by Hodel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Nagel captured the match for USA after he defeated Delgado 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.

The other singles matches were unfinished.

The Cajuns will play in the consolation match against either Middle Tennessee or Denver on Sunday. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
