MANY, La.-Defending Battle on the Bend champions Sam Houston State repeated as the champions as they edged Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns golf team by just one stroke at the 2007 Battle on the Bend hosted by Cypress Creek Golf Resort and Country Club in Many, La.

The Cajuns entered the day trailing by four strokes.  UL battled the cold, the wind and a course that was playing difficult, but still managed to gain three strokes on SHSU.  However, this would not be enough as the Ragin' Cajuns came in second by one stroke.

Devin Carrey (South Surrey, B.C., Canada) tied for the individual lead, but due to his final round of 79, he lost the tie-breaker.

Morgan Landry (Lafayette, La.) was the Cajuns top performer on the final day of the tournament.  He shot a round of even-par 72 ? his best round of the tournament.

Dustin Petit (Luling, La.) shot a three-over par round of 75 to close out the tournament.

Senior Michael Smith (Lafayette, La.) had his worst round of the tournament as he posted a final round of 77.

Carrey and Kyle Pritchard (San Antonio, Texas) both shot final rounds of 79 as the weather conditions played havoc on scores all day.

The Ragin' Cajuns had four golfers play as individuals.  In the final round B.C. Thibeaux, III (Lafayette, La.), Seth Dufrene (Luling, La.) and Thomas Petts (North Vancouver, B.C., Canada) all carded final round scores of 78.  Rounding out the scoring for the Cajuns was Thomas Disch (Ville Auray, France) who scored an 81 in the final round.

The Cajuns finished the fall season and will resume play after the New Year.
