LAFAYETTE- The 2006 Sun Belt Conference Track & Field Championships get under way on Friday, May 12 at the Cajuns Track/Soccer Complex.
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns host the SBC's three-day event for the first time since 1999.
Admission on Friday is free for the limited set of events. The first day's slate includes the first half of the decathlon and heptathlon, as well as the finals of the men's and women's discus and men's and women's 10,000 meter run. The discus will be conducted outside the stadium across Reinhardt Drive.
Gates open on Saturday at 9:00am for the second half of the decathlon and heptathlon. Entry for those events is free. Admission will be charged for all afternoon events. Field events begin at 3pm and preliminary running events begin at 6pm.
Tickets are $8 for adults, $3 for youths 3-18 and free for children under 3 and Sun Belt Conference students with a valid school I.D.
Gates open on Sunday at 9:00am, with paid admission starting at 3:00pm. The men's and women's pole vault finals will be free events inside the stadium prior to 3:00pm. The men's and women's hammer throw will also take place prior to 3:00pm, but will be held outside the stadium across Reinhardt Drive. The remaining field events will begin at 3:00pm, with the running finals starting at 6:00pm.
