LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns starting left-handed pitcher C.J. Blue earned his second win of the season with a 10-1 victory over Texas State here Sunday in the final game of the Mardi Gras Ball Baseball Classic at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Louisiana-Lafayette improves to 10-0, while Texas State falls to 10-3.

Texas State starting pitcher Ryan Bennett (2-1) got the loss, allowing eight runs on seven hits in one inning of work.

UL Lafayette set off a scoring barrage in the first two innings to take a 9-0 lead. In the first inning, the Cajuns sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring six runs. With one out, Saturday's hero Josh Landry singled to center field. Landry then advanced to second following a Justin Merendino walk. With two runners on, Phillip Hawke cleared the bases with a three-run home run to straight away center field, giving the Cajuns a 3-0 advantage. After a John McCarthy fly out, Jefferies Tatford and Dallas Morris each singled. Jameson Parker then walked to load the bases.

Adam Massiatte plated Tatford and Morris with a two-RBI double to right field, giving the Cajuns a 5-0 lead. Parker later scored on Landry's second single of the inning. Massiatte was caught in a run-down to end the inning.

The Cajuns lit up the scoreboard again in the second, adding three more runs. Merendino led off with a double down the left field line. Following a Hawke walk, Travis Spencer replaced Bennett.

McCarthy singled through the right side, scoring Merendino to give the Cajuns a 7-0 lead. Tatford doubled to right field, plating Hawke. McCarthy later scored on a Morris ground out to increase the Cajuns' advantage to 9-0.

McCarthy added an RBI single in the sixth inning to give the Cajuns a 10-0 lead.

Texas State finally got on the board in the eighth inning with an inside-the-park home run that gave a collective scare to the fans at Moore Field. Cajuns centerfielder John Coker ran into the wall attempting to the make the play and fell to the ground. That allowed Cassidy Dresch to circle the bases for the four-bagger. After a few moments, Coker was helped off the field to a standing ovation.
