Mitchell (3-1) fanned 11 McNeese hitters and allowed just one, leadoff batter Lindsi Allen, to put the ball in play – a grounder to third base.
At one point Mitchell struck out six consecutive batters and all of her outs recorded after Allen's grounder were strikeouts.
The Pasadena, Texas, native now has 44 strikeouts over four starts and 22 1/3 innings this season.
For Mitchell it was her fifth career no-hitter. She went 4 1/3 innings before being relieved by Bobbitt with one out in the bottom of the fifth.
The Cajuns offense, struck out in order in the top of the first, came alive in the third inning with a four-spot.
With one out,
junior left fielder Crystal George (right) lifted a home
run over the left center field wall for a 1-0 lead. The
home run was George's first of the season.
Following the home run, leadoff hitter Tiffany Hebert drew a walk. Hebert would then steal second and advance to third on a wild pitch.
After Hillary Guidry struck out swinging for the second out of the inning, Danyele Gomez walked to put runners on the corners.
Joy Webre
then followed with a home run that cleared the center
field 220 sign for a 4-0 lead.
After a quiet fourth inning, the Cajuns exploded for four more runs in the top of the fifth to enforce the mercy-rule.
With pinch runner Michelle Bergeaux on first base Guidry belted the first home run of her career when she drove the ball over the scoreboard in right field to increase the advantage to 6-0.
Webre finished off the scoring with her second home run of the game, third of the season, when she ripped a two-run shot over the left center field wall.
Bobbitt got the final two outs of the game, inducing fly outs from Mandi Salter and Tonya Edlund to preserve Louisiana-Lafayette's first no-hitter of the season and Mitchell's fifth career one.
Corrie Hale (0-2) took the loss for the Cowgirls (1-5).Hale had a no-hitter going into the third before finishing the game allowing four hits and eight runs.
All of the Cajuns hits were round trippers. Through five games this season UL Lafayette has hit 11 home runs with eight of nine in the starting lineup having hit at least one.
