LAFAYETTE-Cajuns
right-hander Kevin Ardoin won this week's College
Baseball Insider National Player of the Week award. This
is the first College Baseball Insider award of the
season for Louisiana-Lafayette.
The national recognition comes on the heels of last Friday night's 5-0 win over Stony Brook. The Eunice, LA native pitched a gem en route to shutting down the Seawolves in the first meeting of these two clubs. Ardoin went the full nine innings only giving up one hit. The Eunice, LA native didn't walk any batters and struck out twelve. Ardoin's precision helped him to retire the last 27 batters he faced in the game. The win Friday represented the first one-hit shutout by a Cajuns pitcher since Brendan Daly one-hit Ole Miss on March 5, 1993.
Ardoin's accomplishments in the Stony Brook game also garnered him last week's Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week award. The Sun Belt honor was Ardoin's second, having won the award last season on April 14.
