Cajuns Improve to 2-2 With Win at Centenary

Shreveport, LA - Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns scored a season high 74 points en route to a 74-60 win over Centenary College in Shreveport on Monday night.

After the teams played a near even first half, the Cajuns took control in
the second stanza, outscoring the Ladies 41-30 in the first 18 minutes
of the second half.

Trailing 66-54, Centenary's Alexis Pettway scored four points to pull
the Ladies within eight points, but five free throws by the Cajuns upped UL Lafayette's lead to 71-58 with less than one minute to play.

Sharee Glenn led the Cajuns with 18 points, 16 of which came in the
second half. Tiffany Washington, playing in her first game as a Cajun,
finished the night with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cajuns upped their one-point halftime lead to six points, 32-26, just 1:15 into the second half.

UL Lafayette's lead increased to nine points, 48-39, midway through the
half. A free throw from Ashley Blanche took that lead to 51-41 with
8:45 remaining.

Four points from Washington and two apiece from Blanche and Sharee
Glenn helped the Cajuns to a 14-point lead, 59-45, with 5:40 to play in the game.

The Cajuns' 74 points is the moist under second-year head coach J.
Kelley Hall.

UL Lafayette shot a season-high 49.1 percent, while holding the Ladies
to 34.7 percent. The Cajuns also won the rebounding margin 44-37.

The Cajuns didn't have a basket from the field until 5:30 into the
contest, but their defense kept the game from getting away early. Kayla
Edwards' three-pointer put the Cajuns down one-point, 6-5, with 14:30 left in the first half.

Following Edwards' triple, Washington scored her first points as a
Cajun. The two baskets gave the Cajuns a 7-6 lead and started a 19-2 run that extended the Cajuns edge to 21-8 with 5:00 left in the first half.

Washington scored eight on the run and Morgan Mayon added four during the spurt.

The Ladies stormed back behind Julie Danieles. Danieles scored nine points on a 16-2 Centenary run that gave the hosts a 24-23 lead with 1:38 left in the half.

Alexandra Kotta's lay-up at the buzzer gave the Cajuns a 25-24 halftime
lead.
Danieles led all players with 13 points at the half. Washington led
the Cajuns with eight points. The Cajuns bench scored 15 points with
leading scorers Anna Petrakova, Bernette Tolston, Blanche and Glenn accounting for just a pair of free throws by Glenn in the first half.
