LAFAYETTE -
Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns battled on homecoming but fell short, falling 45-42 to Louisiana-Monroe.

Down three points, UL Lafayette took possession on their own 23-yard

yards.

The Indians took possession and ran out the clock.

to take a 7-0 lead on a 15-yard touchdown run by Kevin Payne.

Rekieta was intercepted at the UL Monroe 10-yard line on the Cajuns
first possession.

UL Lafayette got on the board five minutes into the second quarter.
Stamps hauled in a 28-yard pass from Rekieta. Stamps made a fantastic leaping catch in the back of the end zone while dragging his left foot at the back line to tie the score at 7-7.

The Indians answered quickly, marching 80 yards in four plays. The 1:11 drive ended with a 35-yard halfback option pass from Payne to Vincent.

Rekieta was intercepted at the Cajuns 28-yard line on the next series, giving the Indians excellent field position. UL Lafayette held the
Indians to only two yards through three downs, but Steven Jyles connected on a 19-yard pass with Roshon Jacobs on fourth-and-eight. Jyles then threw a scoring strike to Vincent to put the visitors ahead 21-7.

Jyles extended ULM's lead to 28-7 with a 64-yard touchdown run with only two minutes remaining in the second quarter.

The Cajuns stormed back with an 11-play, 75-yard drive in 1:47. Rekieta completed a 17-yard pass to Kemmie Lewis, before completing a pair of
21-yard strikes to Stamps. The later completion brought the Cajuns to
the Indians one-yard line with 20 seconds left in the half. Rekieta's
quarterback sneak put UL Lafayette into the endzone and down just 14
points going into the locker room.

UL Lafayette opened the second half with a nine-play, 76-yard drive,
needing only two minutes to hit the endzone. The drives key play came
on a 23-yard completion from Rekieta to Stamps down to the Indians
one-yard line. Chester Johnson scored his first touchdown of the season with a one-yard plunge.

The Cajuns next possession saw Rekieta find Stamps once again. Stamps caught a 20-yard out-and-up on the left side, then made a few moves and cut back to the middle racing untouched to pay dirt for a 64-yard touchdown. Sean Comiskey's extra point tied the score at 28-28.

Louisiana-Monroe regained the lead on their next possession. The Indians needed 1:57 to travel 74 yards on six plays. Jason Schule's one-yard plunge made the score 35-28 in favor of ULM.

After the Cajuns failed on fourth-and-one, ULM took control, marching 52
yards on eight plays. Following a sack, the Indians ran the ball five
straight times for 51 yards down to the Cajuns five-yard line. Payne
