Baseball Finalizes 2003 Schedule

RAGIN' CAJUNS BASEBALL SET TO BEGIN FALL WORLD SERIES

The best of seven series starts Wednesday at 6 p.m.

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns baseball team is ready to begin their annual fall World Series. The best of seven series will open with game one on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The team will be split into two squads consisting of the Red and White teams. Each team has four senior captains who drafted the teams and will perform coaching decisions as well as playing in the series. Seniors Andy Gros, Charles Redmond, Scott Reed, and Bryan Sneed will lead the White team. Seniors Justin Bourque, Danny McMurtry, Dan Reed, and Jason Wilson will lead the Red team.

The World Series will be a last chance for the Cajun coaches to evaluate some of the new talent on this year's squad before final roster decisions following the series.

"We have some guys that are on the bubble and we'll see how they react with the older players and against better pitching," said Head coach Tony Robichaux. "It's our last ditch effort to try and see everyone for one last time, then we'll sit down and try to cut the roster down to 32 players."

Fans are encouraged to attend because it will be a great opportunity to see some of the new Cajun players in live game situations for the first time.

"It's all open to the public," added Robichaux. "The concession stands will be open and we look forward to having the fans out there."

The series will continue thru the week with a break Saturday and continue thru next week as needed depending on how many games the series lasts.
