Patrick Barry began his tenure as an assistant coach on the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Volleyball staff in June 2018.
Barry, who has strong ties to the Midwest region, has coached at all levels – club, high school and college – since launching his coaching career in 2013.
Prior to arriving in Louisiana, Barry had served as the program director and recruiting coordinator for Division1 Volleyball Club in the Chicagoland area since December 2015, aiding in the program’s growth and gaining a vast knowledge of the Midwest club scene.
He gained collegiate coaching experience by serving two stints as a volunteer coach, working on Chris Muscat’s staff at Loyola University Chicago in the 2015 season and serving on Shane Davis’ staff at Northwestern University the following season.
Barry’s first coaching position was with the Wisconsin Juniors in Kenosha, Wisc., from December 2013 through June 2015. During that time, he also coached the varsity team in Wilmot and worked with the boys JV team at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Ill.
He adds a wealth of camp experience to the Ragin’ Cajuns staff, having run multiple gyms at once in a camp setting. Barry has coached at multiple collegiate camps across the country, including Northwestern and North Carolina, and was involved in camps for multiple club programs at Division1 Volleyball Club.
The Skokie, Ill., native has competed in volleyball himself. He was a three-year All-Chicago Catholic League honoree at Loyola Academy and went on to play at Carthage College where he earned first team All-American accolades his sophomore year.
Barry is a 2015 graduate of Carthage College having received a bachelor’s degree in broad field social science.
