Brock Morris completed his third season as an Assistant Coach with the Louisiana Ragin Cajun’s Basketball program. Morris’s primary responsibilities include on-court coaching, player development, opponent scouting, and recruiting.
 
Louisiana Head Coach Bob Marlin said, “Brock is one of the best assistant coaches in the college game. He brings knowledge, energy, and passion on a daily basis. Great network in recruiting and is relentless chasing players.” Marlin continued, “Brock’s experience as a head coach at Daytona State has made him an even better assistant. He cares about our players, develops them, and holds them accountable. Innovative basketball mind, always studying and learning from other coaches at all levels.”
 
Morris has served as the Acting Head Coach four times during his three-year tenure at the University of Louisiana. The Ragin Cajuns are a perfect 4-0 with Morris at the helm.
 
During the 2021-22 season, Morris served as the Acting Head Coach for two games, at Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina, while Coach Bob Marlin recovered from COVID-19. The Cajuns defeated the eventual conference runner-up Appalachian State 71-55. Two days later the Cajuns defeated Coastal Carolina in a thriller 65-64 to start Sun Belt Conference play 2-0.
 
Morris also served as the Acting Head Coach during the 2020-21 season for two games at Texas State, while Coach Bob Marlin recovered from COVID-19. The Cajuns were able to sweep the eventual regular-season conference champions 62-60 and 74-73 respectively. These two wins were critical for the Cajuns, 17-9, to secure the 2nd seed in the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
 
Morris also served as the Acting Head Coach while at the University of South Alabama during the 2017-18 season. Morris took over for Head Coach Matthew Graves and defeated Appalachian State 77-66.
 
In total Morris has won .810 of the games he has coached as a head coach. At Daytona State College in 2018-19, Morris recorded an impressive 25-7 record and won the Mid-Florida Conference Tournament. His team also was named an Academic All-American Team for the 2018-19 season and ranked in the National Top 25 for sixteen weeks.
 
Morris has received national recognition as one of college basketball’s top coaches. In 2020, he was voted one of the Top Assistant Coaches in the Sun Belt Conference by his peers, a list compiled by Jeff Goodman of Stadium.com. Morris was also one of 30 coaches nationally to be selected for the College Coaching Consortium at the 2018 NABC Convention in Minneapolis.
 
Since rejoining the Louisiana staff Morris’s recruiting efforts have bolstered the Cajuns roster significantly. In the past three classes the Cajuns have signed the highest-ranked recruit in program history via 247 sports and ESPN, two four-star high school recruits via ESPN, one Top 100 high school recruit via ESPN, three Top 100 transfers, one Junior College All-American, three Junior College Top 100 players, and a former McDonalds All-American.
 
In 2019-20 and 2020-21, the Cajun’s recruiting class was ranked 1st in the Sun Belt Conference according to Verbal Commits. Verbal Commits also list the Cajuns with the highest-ranked roster in the Sun Belt. This is the third time in five years Morris has assisted a Sun Belt team with securing the Top recruiting class. In 2017 the South Alabama Jaguars were ranked 1st in the SBC via 247 Sports. He also assisted the Jaguars in securing the 2nd ranked Sun Belt Recruiting class in 2016 via 247 Sports.
 
In the past three seasons the Cajuns have shown tremendous growth as a program. In 2021-22 Louisiana played for the Sun Belt Tournament Championship falling just short of the NCAA tournament. This was the Ragin’ Cajuns’ first title game appearance since 2014. It was also the first time since 2014 the Cajuns won multiple games in the SBC tournament. In 2020-21 Louisiana earned the 2nd seed in the Sun Belt Tournament by posting a 17-9 record and finishing 2nd in the Sun Belt West Division behind league champion Texas State, whom the Cajuns beat three of four tries. In Morris’s first season back with the program, 2019-20, the Cajuns were 14-19.
 
The Cajuns have produced (7) All-Conference or All-Tournament Team selections in the past three seasons. Jordan Brown, Kobe Julien, Greg Williams, Cedric Russell, Theo Akwuba, and Mylik Wilson. In 2020-21 Akwuba was also named Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Lefty Driesell National Defensive Player of the Year nominee, a Lefty Driesell Defensive All American, and was voted the LSWA Newcomer of the Year in his first season. Russell was named First Team All Louisiana, Lou Henson All-American, and NABC First Team All-District honoree. In 2019-20 Mylik Wilson was named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-American.
 
In total Morris has recruited, coached, or help develop (26) All-Conference Selections and 18 All-Tournament Team Selections in the past twelve seasons. (7) All-Americans. (3) Conference Players of the Year. (2) Conference Tournament Most Valuable Players. (1) NBA Lottery Pick, Elfrid Payton.
 
Morris is an integral part of the Ragin Cajuns Player Development System, and it has been on full display over the last three seasons.
 
2021-22: Jordan Brown finished the Sun Belt Conference season 2nd in shooting percentage. Theo Akwuba finished 2nd in blocked shots and 1st in offensive rebounding percentage. Kentrell Garnett finished 2nd in three-point shooting percentage and 10th nationally.
 
As a team, the Cajuns finished 3rd in field goal defense, 1st in total rebounds, 2nd in rebound margin, 2nd in blocked shots, 2nd in defensive rebounds per game, 2nd in offensive rebounds per game, and 1st in Free Throws attempted and made.
 
2020-21: Theo Akwuba led the Sun Belt Conference in 2-point field goal shooting percentage at (63%), Effective field goal percentage at (64%), True Shooting Percentage (66%), offensive rebounds (98), total blocks (68), blocks per game (2.6), and block percentage (8.9). Cedric Russell led the Sun Belt Conference in 3-point shooting percentage (46%) during conference play. Russell was also the third-leading scorer in the Sun Belt Conference. Russell also increased his scoring average to a career-best 17.2 points per game his senior season while finishing 2nd all time in 3-pointers made at Louisiana.
 
Five different players scored 20 or more points in seventeen different games, four players recorded a grand total of 21 double-doubles, and four players made five or more threes in six different games. All three returners from the 2019-20 team increased their scoring average.
 
Morris’s previous coaching stops include serving as the Head Coach of Daytona State College, Assistant Coach at South Alabama, Assistant Coach at the College of Southern Idaho, Director of Basketball Operations at Louisiana, and Graduate Assistant at the University of Alabama.
 
Prior to returning to Louisiana, Morris was named Head Coach at Daytona State on May 2, 2018. The Falcons finished 25-7 and won the conference tournament championship. They also earned Academic All-American Team honors for being ranked 12th nationally in GPA (3.2). The Falcons spent 16 weeks ranked in the National Top 25 poll. Under Morris the program increased attendance from 320th to 5th nationally in one season.
 
Morris’s fast pace and explosive offense led the conference in scoring per game at 87 Points.  The Falcons also led the conference in three pointers made and assist per game. Daytona State led the entire state of Florida, Region 8, in 3-pointers made (317) and assist per game (20.7). Harwin Francois (McNeese State) and Bryce Williams (Oklahoma State) lead the region and conference in 3-point percentage shooting, and Khadim Sy (Ole Miss), lead the region and conference in rebounding.
 
The Daytona State defense was just as powerful, ending the season as the top-ranked defense in the conference. The Falcons ranked first defensively in several categories, including field goal percentage defense, blocks, rebound margin, and forced turnovers.
 
Morris inherited a team with only two scholarship players when hired. Over the course of four months, he and his staff signed 12 student-athletes. The 2018 recruiting class included four Top 100 Players, the most in the nation.
 
Morris’s program developed six All-Conference players. Including, Conference Player of the Year (Khadim Sy – Ole Miss), the Conference Player of the Year runner-up (Bryce Williams – Oklahoma State), the Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year (Dou Gueye - Louisiana).
 
Prior to Daytona State, Morris was an Assistant Coach at South Alabama for three seasons, responsible for coaching the defense. Within two years the Jaguars would secure the top ranked recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference and finish as the 16th ranked defense in the nation. 

2017-18, the Jags ranked sixth in the nation in 3-point defense (.305) and 24th in field-goal defense (.407); both percentages were the third-lowest in school history. Synergy Sports placed South Alabama at the top of the Sun Belt Conference and 16th in Division I in its defensive rankings.

The Jaguars tied their most home wins in a decade during the 2017-18 season and held 15 teams below 70 points while posting a 13-2 record in those games.

Morris’s recruiting connections helped the Jaguars land the 2017 class which was rated No. 1 in the Sun Belt Conference, and 85th in the country, by 247Sports - the highest national ranking in program history. In 2016, 247Sports rated the Jaguars' recruiting class No. 2 in the Sun Belt Conference and No. 97 nationally.

In 2016-17, South Alabama tied its best start in school history (5-0) thanks to a season-opening win at UNLV. The team led the SBC in turnovers forced (16.3), turnover margin (+3.2), and steals (7.5 SPG).

Morris came to South Alabama after two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho, where, as an assistant, he helped the Golden Eagles to a combined 58-8 overall record and 27-5 mark in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. CSI claimed two league titles and an appearance in the national tournament during his tenure. The Golden Eagles spent 19 straight weeks ranked in the Top 5 of the national poll.

At CSI, Morris served as recruiting and academic coordinator and was responsible for scouting, game planning, and player development.

In 2014-15, Southern Idaho claimed the Scenic West Athletic Conference title with a 13-2 record and a 31-3 mark overall, as well as the Region 18 Tournament crown. The Golden Eagles boasted a first-team All-American, who was also the Conference Player of the Year, along with five All-Conference selections.

CSI averaged over 90 points per game offensively while ranking No. 2 nationally in field goal percentage defense and No. 3 in steals, holding opponents to 68 points per contest.

The year prior, the Golden Eagles won the Scenic West Athletic Conference with a 13-4 ledger in league play—27-5 overall—and once again placed five on the All-Conference teams, a first-team All-American, and the Conference Player of the Year.

In total, 18 players Morris coached at CSI signed Division I scholarships.

Prior to his time at Southern Idaho, Morris was the director of basketball operations at Louisiana from 2010-13 where he coached the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, Elfrid Payton. In his first stint, Morris helped the Ragin' Cajuns claim the 2012 Sun Belt West Division title.

Following a playing career at Snead State, Morris earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Alabama in 2008 before joining the basketball staff as a graduate assistant. He later received a master’s degree in human environmental sciences from Alabama in 2010.

Morris is married to the former Amanda Archer of Atlanta, GA. They have two sons, Macksen (5) and Graysen (1).
