Cajuns Close Virginia Swing, Open Second Half of SBC Play at JMU

Three-game set in Harrisonburg presents pivotal opportunity in conference standings

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team completes its Spring Break road trip in the state of Virginia and starts the second half of Sun Belt play with a three-game series at James Madison from Friday-Sunday, April 10-12 at Bank of the James Field at Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
 
The series opener is set for 4:00 p.m. (CDT) on Friday. Play continues Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (CDT) and concludes on Sunday with the series finale at 11:00 a.m. (CDT).
 
The entire series will be televised on ESPN+ with David Hulvey calling the action. Radio coverage is available on The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM in the Acadiana region and worldwide on Varsity Network with Cody Junot (pxp) and Bobby Neveaux (analyst) providing commentary.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns (22-18, 5-7 SBC) ventured westward to Harrisonburg and the Shenandoah Valley after beginning their trip with a tug-of-war battle against No. 21 Virginia in Charlottesville on Wednesday. Louisiana pressured the Cavaliers with an 11-hit effort before ultimately falling just short, 5–4.
 
JMU (16-20, 4-8 SBC) hosts the series with UL for the first time since the 2023 season, having visited Lamson Park the past two seasons. Louisiana claimed a three-game sweep in its lone prior trip to Harrisonburg.

>> Since the ULM series, Julianne Tipton has yielded only five runs in 12.1 innings in SBC play including a stretch of 8.1 innings with only one run allowed over three consecutive appearances (Mar. 29-Apr. 3).
 
>> The Cajuns are 17-1 when producing six runs or more and 18-4 when out-hitting the opposition.
 
>> Louisiana's offense ranks Top 100 nationally in average (.307), runs (225), total hits (318), home runs (38), RBI (208), scoring (5.6) and slugging percentage (.489).

>> Brooke Otto provides the biggest power threat in the lineup, batting .355 and slugging .692 with eight home runs and a team-high 35 RBI, along with 12 doubles.
 
>> Kennedy Marceaux's resurgence in SBC play (batting .459) has raised her overall average to .339 and placed her among the leaders in base hits (39) and RBI (27).
 
>> Mia Liscano has generated a team-high 12 multi-hit games. She paces the team with a .404 batting average, 40 hits, and 26 runs scored.
 
>> Freshman Haley Hart has burst onto the scene with seven home runs and of the top slugging marks (.636). She's batting .364 and posted 26 RBI.

>> Sage Hoover leads the pitching staff in workload with 87.1 innings pitched across 22 appearances (14 starts). She battled LSU for 9.2 innings in a 2-1 contest and claimed a win over then-No. 15 Texas A&M.
 
>> Sage Hoover claimed SBC Pitcher of the Week after a dominant showing vs. Texas State. She yielded only one run and held TXST to 10 hits and a .227 average across 13.1 innings.
 
>> Julianne Tipton gives Louisiana a reliable third option — over 45 innings pitching with a solid ERA just over three.

UP NEXT FOR LOUISIANA
Louisiana opens a week-long, four-game homestand at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park on Tuesday, April 14 taking on No. 18 LSU in a 6:00 p.m. midweek game.
 
That will be followed by an SBC series against Coastal Carolina from Friday-Sunday, April 17-19. The Ragin' Cajuns and Chanticleers begin the series at Lamson Park on Friday, April 17 at 6:00 p.m.
