Louisiana collects 13 hits in 10-3 win before Sooners respond with long-ball surge

NORMAN, Okla – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team split a pair of games on Saturday, March 7 in the Okana Invitational at Love's Field in Norman, Oklahoma, defeating Abilene Christian, 10-3, before falling to Oklahoma, 10-0 (5 inn.).

Saturday's play marked the start of the fifth and final non-conference tournament weekend of the 2026 season. UL faces the same two teams on Sunday, March 8 in a twinbill that begins at 10:00 a.m. at Love's Field.

Louisiana (15-9) opened the day with an offensive surge against Abilene Christian (2-18), scoring 10 runs on 13 hits behind a dominant performance from third baseman Brooke Otto (3-for-3, two doubles, HR, 4 RBI) and a complete game from Bethaney Noble (7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 2 K).

Otto went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI to lead the Ragin' Cajuns at the plate. She recorded at least one RBI in each of her first three plate appearances, setting the tone with a solo home run in the first inning and an RBI double in the third.

Cecilia Vasquez added two hits and two RBI, while Dayzja Williams, Emily Smith, Mia Norwood, Mia Liscano and Lillian Soto also recorded hits in the 13-hit attack.

Louisiana broke the game open with a seven-run fourth inning. RBI hits from Williams, Otto and Soto highlighted the rally as the Cajuns stretched a 3-0 lead into a 10-0 advantage.

Noble (5-1) earned the win after tossing the fifth complete game of her senior season, allowing three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts across seven innings. She carried a one-hit shutout into the fifth inning.

ACU scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning before Noble settled in to finish the victory in the first-ever matchup with the Wildcats in program history.

The Ragin' Cajuns recorded double digit hits for the 10th time in 23 games and reached the 10-run mark for the sixth time.

In the nightcap, Oklahoma (22-2) used the long ball to power its offense, hitting five home runs to account for the bulk of its run production in a 10-0 run-rule victory.

Louisiana was limited to three hits — a single from Otto in the first inning and pinch-hit singles by Gabbie Stutes and Erin Ardoin in the fifth inning.

In the circle, Sage Hoover took the loss after allowing six runs in 1-1/3 innings, while Julianne Tipton worked 2-2/3 innings in relief and surrendered four runs.

With the win, Oklahoma drew even at 16-all in the all-time series with Louisiana and now holds an 8-3 lead in Norman.

The contest with the Sooners was the Ragin' Cajuns sixth against a ranked foe this spring. UL now stands 2-4 against ranked foes.
