Women's Cross Country ranks in top 10 with perfect multi-year rate
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Cross Country team posted a multi-year average of 1,000 to rank in the top 10 percent nationally in its respective program, and was one of six programs to register a perfect 1,000 single-year score as the NCAA released its Academic Progress Rate (APR) annual report for the 2023-24 academic year on Tuesday.
Â
Joining women's cross country in achieving a perfect single-year APR score were Baseball, Men's Cross Country, Men's Golf, Softball and Women's Tennis.
Â
The APR, created by the NCAA to provide a more real-time measurement of academic success than graduation rates offer, is a team-based metric where scholarship student-athletes earn one point each term for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
Â
Every Division I sports team submits data to have its APR calculated each academic year. The NCAA reports both single-year rates and four-year (multi-year) rates, on which penalties for poor academic performance are based.
