Cajuns Alum Brandon Young Called Up To Major Leagues

Right-hander to make MLB debut on Saturday for Orioles against Cincinnati
LAFAYETTE – Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns right-hander Brandon Young was called up by the Baltimore Orioles on Friday and became the 18th player in school history to be called up to the Major Leagues.
Young, a two-year letterwinner for Louisiana from 2019-20, will make his Major League debut on Saturday when he faces the Cincinnati Reds at Camden Yards. In two seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns, Young posted a 6-5 record with a 3.65 earned run average with 109 strikeouts in 79.0 innings.
The Lumberton, Texas native was named the organization's Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2024 before getting off to a strong start upon his return to Triple-A Norfolk. He opened the season with 11.1 innings without allowing an earned run.
Young signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent after the 2020 season. He had a 4.09 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 22 innings over seven Double-A outings in 2024 before being promoted to Triple-A Norfolk and recording a 3.44 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 89 innings over 20 games (18 starts).
