The Cajuns go for their third win in four contests

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana women's tennis team looks for their third win in four tries as they host McNeese at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns go for their fifth straight win in the series.

Louisiana swept Tyler Junior College last time out without dropping a set. Nina Krecklenberg had a dominant performance, winning 6-0, 6-0. It was the sophomore's second singles win of the year and improved Louisiana to 3-1 on court five. As a team, the Cajuns are 14-9 in singles and have a .500 or better record on every court. Leading the team in singles wins are Angelquire Berrat and Rocio Navarro with three each.

McNeese has won 10 straight in a busy early stretch after losing their season opener to North Texas. Last weekend, the Cowgirls won four matches. On Friday, they swept Tyler JC and Southern before a pair of victories over LSU-Alexandria on Sunday. They have three players, Salome Fluri, Toffee Ghorab, and Ariana Monlleo Sanchis, with eight singles wins.

All-time the Cajuns lead the series 11-9 dating back to 2003, in what has been a streaky series. The Cowgirls won the first three, before seven in a row by Louisiana. McNeese then took the next six, followed by Louisiana winning the last four heading into Tuesday.

Louisiana then hits the road to face Incarnate Word in San Antonio on Friday at noon.
