Louisiana Starts Strong at Youngsville with Nine Wins

The Ragin’ Cajuns won nine total matches on the first day of the season
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's tennis team started the fall season strong with nine total wins on day one of the Youngsville Hidden Dual on Friday. The team combined to win six singles matches and three doubles matches.
Louisiana began the day with a sweep in doubles over Southern Miss. Leonard Tramolay and William Ribero gutted out a 7-6 (8-6) victory on court one while Vasil Dimitrov and William Jade picked up a 7-5 win as well. On court three it was an all Cajun affair with Oriol Fillat Gimenez and Calin Postea taking a 6-4 win over teammates Mason Landreth and Samuel Kyjaci.
In singles, the Cajuns pitted seven players against Tyler Junior College while two took on Tulane. Darius Balan earned the first win of his collegiate career against Tulane, taking it in three sets 7-5, 6-7 (6-8), 10-7. Against TJC, Dimitrov (6-4, 6-1), Fillat Gimenez (6-3, 7-6 (8-6)), Kyjaci (6-2, 6-3), Postea (6-4, 6-3), and Landreth (6-2, 6-3) all prevailed to get the season off on the right foot.
Louisiana returns to action tomorrow morning with doubles beginning at 9:30 a.m. against Tyler Junior College before taking on Tulane in singles later in the day.
