Desormeaux, Gillie, Ossai To Represent Louisiana at SBC Media Days

Trio to take part on final day (July 24) of two-day event
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana head football coach Michael Desormeaux along with returning standouts AJ Gillie and K.C. Ossai will take part in the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Football Media Days, scheduled for July 23-24 in New Orleans.
The event will be held at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District in downtown New Orleans, La., and will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN+.
Sun Belt East Division programs — App State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Marshall and Old Dominion — will appear on Tuesday, July 23.
Sun Belt West Division programs — Louisiana, Arkansas State, ULM, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State and Troy — will participate on Wednesday, July 24.
Ossai, who will represent Louisiana at SBC Media Days for the second consecutive year, played in all 13 games for the Ragin' Cajuns last season and finished as the team leader with 95 tackles. The Conroe, Texas, native earned honorable mention All-Sun Belt Conference honors last season while helping Louisiana to its school-record sixth consecutive bowl appearance.
A third-team All-SBC offensive lineman in 2023, Gillie started all 13 games at left guard for the Ragin' Cajuns and tallied 41 knockdowns. The Natchitoches, Louisiana, native posted a season-high grade of 94 percent at Minnesota and earned a grade of 93 in a win over Texas State. As a key member of the offensive line, Gillie helped the Ragin' Cajuns offense rank second in the SBC in rushing offense and third in scoring.
The group includes reigning Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year App State senior quarterback Joey Aguilar alongside one All-Sun Belt First Team, one All-Sun Belt Second Team, one All-Sun Belt Third Team and four All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention selections from a year ago.
Five new head coaches — Dell McGee of Georgia State, Bob Chesney of James Madison, Bryant Vincent of ULM, Major Applewhite of South Alabama and Gerad Parker of Troy — will attend Sun Belt Football Media Days ahead of their first seasons in the conference.
Louisiana will officially report for fall camp on August 1 with its season opener at Cajun Field against in-state foe Grambling scheduled for August 31.
