Louisiana and Troy Set for SBC Softball Semifinals Matchup

18th-ranked Ragin ‘Cajuns and Trojans meet for spot in championship game
SAN MARCOS, Texas – 18th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball is set to face Troy at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, May 10 in the semifinal round of the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament at Bobcat Softball Stadium in San Marcos, Texas.

Louisiana (41-16) advanced to Friday's semifinal behind four-plus commanding innings from Sam Landry and a big second inning to claim an 8-0 (5 inn.) win over James Madison in the quarterfinals.

Troy (34-21) used four home runs and a no-hitter pitched by Libby Baker to record a 16-0 (5 inn.) win over Coastal Carolina and earn its spot in the semifinal contest.

Live television coverage of Friday's semifinal contest is available on ESPN+ while a radio broadcast is available on The Goat 103.3 FM and 1420 AM in the Acadiana region and worldwide on The Varsity Network.

The Ragin' Cajuns and Trojans are a mere one week removed from having met in the regular season finale series at Lamson Park. Starting with an incredible comeback win in game two, erasing a seven-run deficit, Louisiana recovered from a series deficit and overcame Troy.

UL and Troy meet in the SBC Championship tournament for the fifth time, the Cajuns having won the previous four matchups (2006, 2010, 2011, 2022). The two programs last met in the SBC's postseason event back in 2022 in Mobile.

Louisiana carries a 15-game win streak in the SBC Championship tournament, which began during the 2019 event in San Marcos, into Friday's semifinal contest with Troy.

Louisiana has claimed the SBC Championship title 18 times in the 23-year history of the event, and is seeking to claim a fifth consecutive championship and defend its most recent titles claimed in San Marcos (Texas) in 2019, Troy (Alabama) in 2021, Mobile (Alabama) in 2022 and at Lamson Park in 2023.
