Morgan Named To Perfect Game Midseason Freshman All-America Team

Southpaw ranks third in SBC and among NCAA freshmen in ERA

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns pitcher Chase Morgan earned midseason honors when he was recently selected to the Perfect Game Midseason Freshman All-America teams.
 
Morgan, ranked third in both the Sun Belt Conference and among all NCAA freshman in earned run average (2.34), was one of two SBC players named as a Second-Team Freshman Midseason All-America selection.
 
The Cypress, Texas native has posted a 3-1 record on the mound for No. 19-ranked Louisiana in 12 appearances with six starts. The southpaw has fanned 28 batters in 34.2 innings on the mound while limiting opposing hitters to a .171 average. On the season, Morgan has earned victories this season in SBC games against Arkansas State, Texas State and ULM.
 
Louisiana (25-9, 11-1 SBC) will open a three-game SBC series against Marshall beginning on Friday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
