Ragin' Cajuns return home to host 39th Annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne
HENDERSON, Nevada – Eli Ortego moved up the leaderboard at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate after posting a 5-under-par 67 to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team on the final day of the 54-hole event on Wednesday at Reflection Bay Golf Club.

Louisiana posted a team score of 1-over-par 289 and finished 18th in the field at 9-over-873 for the event. VCU claimed the team championship at 844 with South Florida (846), Long Beach State (847), Arkansas State (847), Kansas City (854) and Stetson (854) finishing in the top five.

Ortego, who finished the tournament at 1-over-217, moved up 44 spots on the leaderboard on the final day after recording four birdies and an eagle. The junior posted a 4-under-32 on the front nine which included birdies at No. 1 and 6 before posting an eagle on the par-5, No. 9.

Malan Potgieter came back with a strong finish over his final nine holes to post his second consecutive round of even-par 72 and finish at 2-over 218 for the Ragin' Cajuns. The sophomore opened the front nine with three straight bogeys to fall to 5-over for the round before reeling off four straight birdies and adding a birdie on his final hole at No. 12.

Burke Alford posted a 3-over-par 75 to finish at 3-under-213 for Louisiana and finish in a tie for 20th. Jake Marler added a 3-over 75 for the third consecutive day while freshman Dillon Barnard carded an 84.

Maximilian Feistmantl, competing individually for the Ragin' Cajuns, posted his best round at the collegiate level after finishing at 1-over 73 for the day and 227 for the event.

USF's Jake Peacock claimed individual medalist honors after posting a 5-under 67 to finish at 9-under 207 for the event. Maxence Mugnier of Kansas City was one stroke back at 208.

Louisiana will return home on March 11-12 to host the 39th Annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club. The 14-team field includes several nationally-ranked opponents including two-time defending champion Texas A&M, along with LSU, SMU and Wake Forest.
