LAFAYETTE – The 23rd-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team was dealt a 6-0, 3-2 doubleheader sweep by No. 22 Baylor on Sunday, February 18 as a Top 25 weekend series wrapped up at Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park.

The Bears (3-3) scored first, turned a bases-loaded double play when the Cajuns (5-5) attempted to respond and went on to plate six runs over the first three innings of Game 1.

Sam Ryan (3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 K) came out of the UL bullpen to slow down Baylor. The Cajuns had traffic against BU reliever Dariana Orme in the fifth and sixth inning, but each time she got the timely ground ball out.

Game 2 started as a pitcher's duel between Sam Landry (4.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 K) and Baylor's Aliyah Binford – the lone hit for either team over the first two frames an skied infield single that dropped between fielders.

Baylor took advantage of free bases in the third inning to lay claim to a lead that would stand. The Bears scratched for three runs without the benefit of a hit as a leadoff walk and three Cajuns errors led to the production.

Landry and Chloe Riassetto (2.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R) combined to hold the Bears offense off the board the rest of the way, then the offense came alive in the sixth inning courtesy an Alexa Langeliers two-run home run that sliced the BU advantage to 3-2.

A Lauren Allred walk followed the home run, but the Bears made a pitching change the led to the fifth double play on the day turned to preserve the lead. In the seventh inning, reliever RyLee Crandall worked around a one-out single from Samantha Graeter to complete the save.

Maddie Hayden, who delivered three hits in the twinbill which included a pair of doubles, joined Langeliers as the Cajuns' leaders on offense.

Baylor avenged Friday's 4-1 defeat in the series opener and captured the series victory in the first-ever weekend series in the all-time series between the two programs.
