Lewis is the team's first signee ahead of the 2024-25 season
LAFAYETTE — The Louisiana men's basketball team added Krystian Lewis as its first signee for the 2024-25 season. Lewis, a freshman point guard at Pearl River Community College, comes to Louisiana from Monroe, where he attended Wossman High School.
"Krystian is a versatile point guard who can score, pass, and defend," said head coach Bob Marlin. "He's a hard worker who plays with great intensity and will be a great addition to our program."
Lewis has played well to start his collegiate career at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. The 6-3 guard is averaging 14.2 points per game as a freshman, with 5.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds. The freshman has finished in double figures in four of five games this season as the team has picked up three wins. On November 9 against Calhoun Community College, Lewis dropped a season-high 19 points with six assists and five rebounds.
The Monroe native ended his high school career with a state championship, leading Wossman to the title over Iowa. Lewis won the game's Most Outstanding Player award after scoring 25 points, with eight rebounds, and four steals. He also was named to the 3A All-State team in 2023 and 2024 along with the 2024 State Championship All-Tournament Team.
The Ragin' Cajuns are back on the hardwood on Tuesday against Rice at 7:30 p.m. in the Cajundome.
